Untitled #11 (Norway, 2003-2004)
When I started to work on the White series in Norway, I was particularly fascinated by the transformation of the landscape in winter, fading away and creating a sense of isolation. I was also interested in the confrontation between nature and our contemporary world, represented by man-made elements. I tried to convey these by isolating the marks and signs of the human presence through touches of colors emanating from negative space of white. I wanted the images to be very minimalist and deprived of people to translate the impression of emptiness and strangeness I felt.
